The Zoom HD16CD digital multitrack recorder allows you to make and record the music you desire. This machine is equipped with an 80-gigabyte hard drive that holds up to 240 hours of audio recordings and features eight simultaneously recording tracks with 16 playback tracks. This model allows you to create your own sounds or revolutionize your favorite music with more than 100 effects for changing vocals, bass, guitar, and drum as well as mixing and mastering. The Zoom HD16CD digital multitrack recorder gives you 60 seconds of sample time to allow for endless leeway in creating complex and layered compositions. The Zoom HD16CD has much to offer, whether you’re an independent recording artist or collaborating with other artists. With its multitrack and stereo album modes, make master copies of all your sessions with the onboard high-speed CD burner. The Zoom HD16CD digital multitrack recorder is no exception with its ability to record eight inputs as 16-bit, 44.1KHz audio files. The internal signal processing and the converters themselves are 24-bit until the final stage of the recording process when it’s changed to the 16-bit standard used on audio CDs. This unit has an onboard CD/RW drive so you can complete song/album masters and make backups. The integral USB 2.0 bus allows you to archive song data, and import and export WAV files as well as completed mixes to your PC or Mac. An internal hard disk drive of 80GB gives plenty of space to store up to 10 master mixes and 160 virtual tracks per song. Like previous generations of recorders from the Zoom brand, the HD16CD provides an onboard drum machine, bass synthesizer, guitar effects, harmony-generation processor, loop sample facilities as well as step-time and real-time sequencing. In addition to these, the insert, chorus, delay and reverb effects, can be used to construct fairly complex rhythm arrangements without needing to use external instruments. The Zoom HD16CD digital multitrack recorder is a truly versatile device with a new and ergonomic design that can even be used as a midi control surface for Cubase. This model’s recording quality is superb while the machine noise is very low. This unit’s onboard effects have been arranged so that there is always a chorus/delay and stereo reverb available for use in a send/return configuration. Each channel also features a separate auxiliary send path, which is output from the stereo sub-out jack and be used to either send out to a secondary headphone feed or external effects processor. The Zoom HD16CD features insert algorithms, which cater for guitar, vocal, and drum recordings and includes dynamic processors, such as compressors and speaker and amp simulators. Users can choose where to insert positions, such as at the beginning of the insert chain, after the recording during mixing, or in the stereo path to the master outputs. The Best.
I have owned the R16 and R24 after selling my hd16cd, but have come back. I have owned numerous other brands and at the end of the day, this beats tascam, korg, roland, and any other brand that takes a shot at an all-in-one mixer/recorder. It is a diamond in the rough, and survives. The biggest issue these units have is an archaic hd, as is the case with all older computer products using a hard drive. I would have said it was painful to restore without the restore disk, but I emailed zoom and they sent the disk image within an hour. There are endless resources online describing exactly how to install a sshd, which I intend to do this week. These will last and folks will want them for a long time.
