This multi-track analog recorder designed by Boss incorporates the use of CompactFlash CF into its storage capability. The BR-600 2-track MTR recorder features an easy-to-read board with digital display in the upper left corner. Modulator dials are situated just underneath the board to make it easy to create the right mix of sound during the recording process. This particular sound and recording board is both small and lightweight, making it easy to carry from venue to venue if needed. It creates great sound quality via easy-to-operate features that most can learn to use rather quickly. Boss BR-600 Digital Recording Console
This recorder is my favorite learning tool for music. I record the songs I am learning, and then use the A-B repeat function to play the difficult phrases over and over until I get them figured out, or in the case of our originals, until I get my leads dialed in. The Phrase Trainer feature allows me to cut the speed of the music in half without changing the pitch, so I can learn the phrases at a slower speed in the original key. The BR-600 is very easy to learn, and easy to use. My band records every practice session, using just the internal microphones, and the results are surprisingly listenable. I just use one track for these sessions, which gives me hours of recording time on a 1GB card. This little featherweight will operate on batteries with around six hours of recording time on a set of alkalines. It makes it nice for use at a live performance, or even a college lecture. For recording multi-track songs, there are some very useable effects on board, as well as a pretty darn good drum machine with some fun rhythm tracks. The final quality of the music, using no other gear is really excellent, especially considering the reasonable cost of the machine. You won't regret this purchase--I would immediately have to buy another one if mine got broken or lost. When I want demo quality recording, I just plug in a good pair of recording microphones, and use two tracks for the recording; or plug in the monitor out from our P.A. mixer into the line input, and one recording mic. This has literally everything you need to record whole tracks, performances, solo work, demos, whatever! Get a CF to SD adapter and go hog wild, built in mics sound fantastic and work extremely well for vocals, drums, acoustics, etc! Perfect basic mixing tools and quality BOSS FX and amp sims!! Bouncing and mastering made easy as cake and plug straight into a pc or Mac for .wavs of every track you want! Drums built in sound OK and pattern making is easy. Arranger is less than easy to use but when mastered can make a composition really come together! Loadable samples too. BR 600 Mini Multitrack great value especially for travel!
Great little recorder for the on the road musician. Easier to use than I thought it would be. Great built in mic quality and nice effects. Once I got the hang of using the menu driven system for operations it became quite easy to use. I travel a lot, and it fits in my bag nicely. I use a Beaver Creek travel guitar with a build in passive pick-up and I the guitar sound great with the built in effects.
