good but has an issue..
Other reviews I read pointed out that the opening mechanism when the door unlocks was loud and scares the dogs. I ignored the comments for the most part as the dog owners mentioned they had fairly skittish smaller breed dogs using the door. I have a 45Kg German Shepherd and training him to use the door when that opening noise happened, which isn't a faint sound, was difficult. It almost sounds like there is something wrong with the door. Very loud mechanical noise. Otherwise the door works well.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

This item has two features I really dont like. 1) There is a motor that moves the entire door assembly up and down a long distance to lock it. This is SO unnecessary and will make battery life very short! They should have the motor only moving a small light weight latch instead of the entire door assembly. 2) The door, when unlocked, is too hard to open for our small dog. She will not press her nose or paws hard enough against it to open it. It should swing freely when unlocked and be very easy to open!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great Product
I am so happy with this product. My Shepherd/Malamute mix is 75lbs and uses it all the time with no problems. He loves to go out and hunt at night, so now I get to sleep all night without him waking me to let him out. :) Not sure how the battery life will last through the cold with it being on an exterior door, but we will see. I only gave it 4 stars because the only down fall I have found is the "key" on his collar is a screw in style and with the movement being on his neck has caused for it to come loose and we lost it once. Luckily we found it, but that does worry me and don't want to have to buy more. Other then that....We are very happy with out purchase without a doubt.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Nice Door for the Price
It was fairly easy to install, took about an hour. My two Chihuahua's are still afraid of it, because it makes noise. If I hold it open for them, they go through it, but will not go through by themselves. It locks about 15 seconds after they go in or out, and that keeps the cats from going out...(the cats have no fear of it and will use it when it's unlocked) All in all, I'd say I was happy with it. Before I give this item too much praise I'm going to see how well it holds up. Everything works as described. I'll wait to see how much abuse it can take before I'm convinced of it's worth.
