The "pros" and "cons" of the Ambient WS-2902D Remote Weather Station
Admittedly, I've only had my Ambient WS-2902D up-and-running for a few days, so, there really hasn't been sufficient time to run the Weather Station through its paces. The instructions even suggest that you allow up to a month of uninterrupted operation, before making any judgements of its quality and/or accuracy, to give the operating system time to become familiar with "normal weather patterns" in your location......especially when it comes to the "Forecast" function. BUT......as for my initial thoughts about the unit, I was thoroughly impressed with the very-secure packaging, which protects the unit from damage while in-transit. The Instruction Booklet is VERY comprehensive, and yet, easy to understand, and the instructions are easy to follow while assembling the Weather Station, properly mounting the Weather Station and then calibrating the information to your personal preference on the Remote Display Console that you've installed in a suitable location in your home. Choosing the right location for your new Ambient WS-2902D is extremely crucial to the quality of its performance and accuracy, so you need to take extra care when choosing where to place the Weather Station - are there any obstructions that might interfere with the proper recording of Wind Speed or Wind Direction? Are there any obstructions, overhead, such as overhanging trees, that might interfere with the proper measurement of Rainfall, UV Radiation or Light Intensity? AND, if you intend to mount your new Weather Station on the roof, it will need to be mounted at a sufficient height so that radiant heat from the roof itself, summer OR winter, doesn't cause false Outdoor Temperature readings to the Remote Display Console, inside. These are all parameters that are measured by the Ambient WS-2902D, so, choose your mounting location, wisely, so that you will receive accurate weather information. Thus far, I've been very impressed with my new Ambient WS-2902D Remote Weather Station, BUT, as I stated at the beginning of this review, I've only had it running for a few days, so, maybe ask me, again, in February 2024.
CONCERNS OR ISSUES: I DO have a few concerns with the Ambient WS-2902D Remote Weather Station. My first concern is the strength of the plastic from-which the entire Weather Station is constructed - how well will it stand-up to bitter-cold, intense sunlight and possibly, gale-force winds? Only time will tell. My second "issue" is that the Remote Display Console CAN be difficult, if not impossible to read, at various angles. I mounted my Display Console to the wall, directly over my desk, slightly above eye-level, BUT, in-order to see the display, clearly, I had to form a small "wedge" of corrugated cardboard, to put behind the display, tipping it forward, so the data being displayed on the screen was bright and clear. NOT a big "issue", BUT, one that I felt needed to be mentioned. Other than these few items, thus far, I am SUPER-pleased with my new Ambient WS-2902D Remote Weather Station.
