I use the echo button as an alarm button, paired to an echo dot in a different bedroom from my wife,who is ill, setup a routine so that on button press a message is announced, turns on my bedroom lights and plays loud music to wake me up. Works a treat. Highly recommend them for many other scenarios.

Did exactly what you hoped it could do; a mobile standalone switch that can run Alexa routines and devices. It doesn’t set up like a regular device as it’s Bluetooth. I’d l like to control the lights on the button but am working on that.
