Brilliant simple easy to use tool
So simple to use. Brilliant tool. Thought it would require a lot of pressure but it cuts through n gauge rails like a knife through butter requiring very little filing afterwards. The vertical cutter means the track can be cut on the baseboard/cork underlay etc without trying to hold the rails in place whilst attempting to cleanly and at right angles with a razor saw.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Not as strong as I would have hoped for an expensive tool
I purchased this tool to cut Peco Streamline code 100 and code 60 (conductor rail) nickel silver track. Although it just managed to cut sufficient rails for my compact layout, the cutter rapidly developed grooves in the jaws. As it is specifically sold for this job, I expected better quality and this falls short of the standard which I have normally experienced with American made tools.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Don't do without
Have managed for years removing the piece of track and using electrical wire side cutters and cleaning up the cut with a file. Had to try them as soon as they arrived, what can I say! So, so easy to use, no real effort required, absolutely straight cut with very burr. Brilliant rail cutters
Does exactly what it is supposed to do - and very quickly. All too often devices are produced which don't do the job or make a mess of it. BUT this set of cutters actually cuts the rails very cleanly and often no filing required. NB: These cutters are for nickel/silver rails only, not steel. (Nickel/silver is softer than steel.)
