The Sennheiser ME66 K6 was designed with broadcasting in mind. Portable and high quality, this super-cardioid mic captures sound with intense clarity, thanks to the unidirectional pickup pattern. With specific directional focus, this mic channels all of its phantom power or battery power energy in drawing a single from one direction only - to the exclusion of surrounding noise and distortions. This makes it ideal for broadcasting environments, including film sets and on location projects, where wind and external noise could otherwise prove a limiting factor. Frequency response ranging from 40 Hz to 20 kHz gives this Sennheiser a broad enough scope to handle more types of audio input, whether dialogue or onscreen special effects.

Great but you always need the internal battery
Great sound pickup. Good directional focus. The only thing that was a surprise to me was finding out that although this mic is supposed to work using power from its battery OR taking power from an external source, it turns out that the internal battery must still be in place for the mic to work even when external power is provided!

Good Mic, Not Great
Good Mic, Not Great self noise is an issue in quiet recordings, overall this is a good mic, if you can find a clean used one for no more than $200 buy it, be sure it has the power K6 and ME66 capsule for that price.

Great all around shotgun mic
This turned out to be just what I was looking for. It produces a clear sound with very little noise. Its light weight makes it easy to use on top of camera as well, though so far I mostly use it on a boom stand to capture speech and sound effects both indoor and outdoor. The only other shotgun mics I have to compare are rode video mics. This obviously is another league. I wish it came with a windscreen but I purchased a cheap Movo one that is working well, for non windy situations at least.

New favorite shotgun microphone
I invested in Rode when I got started. Always heard the hype about Sennheiser hyper cardioid capsules but until now hadn't taken the plunge. I'm super impressed with how lightweight and quiet it is. I had to roll back the gain from where my Rode NTG3 usually sits. With the ME66 there is no noise what so ever coming from my pre-amps. The only minus the ME66 gets is the carrying case design. It's basically one of those plastic coated paper boxes you see children's paint brushes sold in. It snaps together with a button you would see on your Grandma's sweater. Definitely want to get something else to transport it in.

Great audio quality..
If you are looking for really good shotgun mic this is one to consider. I have a series 1 Azden and the sound quality between then is like night and day. The funny part is that without the comparison the Azden is a really good sounding microphone. So for those who say seen one microphone seen them all!!...It's not true.
