The Polk Audio PSW505 is a vintage subwoofer that carries a classic aesthetic appeal alongside its impressive list of features. Looks aside, you will find a polymer composite cone with a lower -3 dB limit of 28 Hz, making all levels of sound available to the user. This device can offer an output of up to 460 watts with a 300-watt continuous average, and the slot venting on this vintage subwoofer improves the bass response at all volume levels. All ports are pro-grade five-way binding posts, and an adjustable low-pass crossover with phase switch allows placement with almost any speaker combination. Awesome!
Polk audio is a well name brand. I have 2 10" in my living room setup. I purchased this item to replace a 15" subwoofer in my theater room. I was some happy with this purchase and sound that I upgraded my receiver from 9.1 to 9.2 so I just ordered my second 505. The 505 is truly awesome and you can not beat the price. It sells for twice as much on another very popular site besides Ebay. The sub arrived much sooner that projected, now if they can do this again so I can hook up the new 505. PSW505 12" powered subwoofer
I did my research for months, and the opinions I read are born out by the performance. Taking into account my room size and budget, this dude is hard to beat. I would skip the PSW10 altogether IMHO, under any circumstance and make this your entry level sub, because it will grow with you, and the PSW10 simply won't. Yes, there are other subs with better chops, but not for the money. Simply put, for less than two bills, I heard nothing better. Very good subwoofer especially at this price.
I purchased one of these subs in 2008 for my first surround sound system. Still works very well. When I saw these being offered at that price I decided to purchase another one for another system I was putting together. I looked at other used ones and decided why pay as much for a used sub when I could get this one new. I am using this one with (4) cerwin vega DX-9's in stereo mode. As good as it sounded before this sub fills in the gap that you do really realize is there until you turn it on. I own several low to medium grade 12" subwoofers
This Polk PSW505 beats a PSW12, a PSW125 and my acoutatech 12". Although for music I like the PSW125 a little bit better as it has a higher top end and does not try to go as low and then distort. Good value and great for home theater
The sound is very good. The controls offer good adjustments. Great for home theater in a medium to large room and is perfect for me. The amp can easily break up the speaker so there is plenty of power. The speaker is the weak link. If i play music and turn it up it will distort. It is controllable with the knobs though. The beast...
This was added to create a 5.1.2 set up for a new receiver. The bass is incredible. The bass works well with various music and hardcore action movies. This sub will shake the wall and floor during action scenes and take it with ease. It will turn around and play EDM and hip-hop or even classical like it was nothing...I have this tuned buy Audessey EQ32 on Marantz SR6013, and my source is usually an Apple TV 4K.
