not at all what I thought I was buying.
The product used to be practical shortly after manufacture. However, this unit sat on a shelf somewhere for well over 20 years. It came with a AAA battery that had an expiration date of March 2012. The electrical wiring and the vibratory device had green corrosion covering the wiring and connections. I replaced the battery and there was no mechanical movement. In an act of desperation, soaked the device (minus the new battery) in a mixture of baking soda and water for several hours. There was no improvement. It used to be a great product. Be wary of ‘new’ ones - the batteries leak!
I wish Oral B would decide to manufacture this device again. The only ‘new’ ones available now have been resting for years in their blister packs with a factory-installed battery. In my experience, this means the battery has inevitably leaked and, despite my best efforts to clean the contacts, the device doesn’t work, even with a new battery. They were a really great product, back in the day, and could be again, if only Oral B would start manufacturing them again.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

This thing works better than floss on fingers!

Original package with a lot of ageing
I believe that the Hummingbird has not been in production for many years and that those still on the market in original, sealed packaging do not work as the battery has gone bad and ruined the internal wiring.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Lost forever
When the Hummingbird flosser was the best thing. The vibrating action made flossing fun. Dental hygienist noticed a dramatic increase in cleaning and a drop in cavities. The cost was not outrageous and the accessories were also available at reasonable prices. They were not only cute, they were portable and very small. Can't believe it was one day unavailable and now you can't find them again. The manufacturer had a great product. Nothing else has ever been close to the Hummingbird . Wish they were available again.
