Solved My Reception Probledm
I purchased this radio primarily to overcome an FM reception problem I was having in the master bedroom of my home. The external FM antenna that was included with the radio provided that solution... no more FM reception problems. The radio also has an internal/external FM antenna switch. The problematic FM station at issue could not be received using the internal antenna but was crystal clear using the external antenna. This radio is also very good looking and appears to be exceptionally well made with precise fit and finish. The only reason I did not give this radio 5 stars was its lack of tone adjustment. I listen to both talk and music FM stations and non adjustable tone of this radio is weighted far too heavily to the base side. This is great for the music stations but tends to make conversational voices on the talk stations sound mushy and unclear. I find myself raising the volume beyond what I would normally prefer to clarify the voice sounds. The addition of the simplest of tone adjustments would solve this problem.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Great little radio, impressive sound for the size.
The Sangean Radio WR 11 ... For its size and price, this is a great little radio. It is attractive, comes in different wood finishes and has that vintage appeal. I have purchased several (like 7, some new, some pre owned) to place in different rooms of the house, cellar, garage, backyard shed). During the holidays we had every radio in the house playing the same channel Holiday music. Nice. I have done side by side comparisons on the models I have purchased (all analog tuners, I have not tried the digital tuner). The 40th anniversary gold edition for some reason seems to have better sound, it is just richer, warmer. Don't know why. I have not heard the Sangean's biggest competitor, the Tivoli. I seriously considered buying that brand. Reviews convinced me otherwise. I did read that the sound may be a bit warmer with the Tivoli but there is reportedly more channel drift. I opted to use the built in antennae after trying several different antenna configurations ( connecting it to house wiring, to the cable TV wiring, to a dipole, and to an extendable antennae). I have two radios in my cellar and I am using an antennae wire connected to my copper plumbing on one of them to improve reception. Maybe just the placement of that radio requires such, as it is towards the center of a large space. Look for my review for the Sangean WR 12. I prefer that model. It costs a bit more, is a bit larger, and broadcasts in stereo and has separate bass and treble controls.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Easy on the eyes and ears
I'm an A.M. talk radio listener and have searched for years for a good radio that will pick up the local station in my area. Have tried and failed with many models. This one has no problem picking up the signal and the sound quality is very good, clear. The wood case is lovely. Retro-Magic
The main attraction for this radio is it's feel. It looks so nice and lovely to operate. It actually adds something to the room, and this is before turning it on, and when it's on, the sound is very full. It is very easy to operate (really nothing to it), and the reception is excellent. The only downside, as said before me, is the significant bass impact. I would have it down by more than a little. Nevertheless, the overall sound is very good. The good: - WYSIWYG, very straightforward, easy to operate, and works well. - The buttons and dial are very good build, meaning the dial is a bit slow to turn, in a good way, so you can be more precise when you look for a station. - The sound quality and volume are very good (although there is this bass thing) - Beautiful design The bad: - The aux is hidden on the back, so if you want to use this option, you have to pick up the radio and look for it until you find the jack, Not very comfortable. - Again - the bass. It mumbles the words sometimes, and you cannot ignore it. Bottom line - If you're looking for only a radio, no fireworks, and something to decorate your room while doing it, I recommend it.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good Value Table Radio
Excellent sound. Great looks. Easy to use. We use it in the kitchen and it matches the decor. A good value compared to other similar radios. Xmas Gift
The radio arrived so quick I thought tracking no. was wrong. I registered complaint when item was in my mailbox during Thanksgiving and was overlooked. It will be given as Xmas gift so I cannot comment how it works but it is in really nice box and appears to be in great shape. I am confident my wife will love it. After opening box and put to use, it has been very disappointing. The sound is like over based and under trebled--very unpleasant to listen to. The tuning knob is ultra sensitive--a slight turn and several stations are passed.
