This radio has a long history in the family ... originally purchased when Radio Shack was still around (many, many years ago) it finally gave up the ghost ... the challenge was to find a replacement ... Sounds great but has a quirk.
I bought this because the AM DX was supposed to be superior. It kinda is but it's not usable because you'll be listening to Chicago or NY and the thing will pop over to another station like it was an FM radio popping around. Sound quality through the headphones is excellent, though, better than my other radios.

I got this for my father, who is in a nursing home. The reception for any AM station is poor. He tried various locations in the room, as well as in the hallway, adjusted the antenna and held the radio in different positions and nothing worked. Could be the reception in the nursing home, not sure. Would not buy again.

radio shack has made better
sound quality is poor compared to other R/S radios compared side by side that I own, the tuning and on/off/vol dials are set too far into the radio to be easily accessed and reception drops out often.
