In my opinion a 4 slice waffle maker is not going to be compact but it's made to stand up long ways when not in use which makes it a space saver. it's a great waffle maker. The settings are wonderful from light to dark and belgian to custom made. The waffles are pretty sizable. The spills are caught and cooked. Its solid, love the way it's made.
