Quality has gone down hill.
This is the third VN-7200 voice recorder I have owned. The first one lasted several years without a glitch. When it finally gave up I didn’t hesitate to buy another one. The second one lasted a couple months with minimal use before the stop button quit working. I rely heavy on my voice recorder so I hurried and bought another. Only missing one thing
If you need to transfer recordings to your computer, this is not the one for you. But if you want a good little recorder that's simple to use, has all the basics you would want, I can recommend this one. I bought it for a friend who needs to document things and she is totally happy with it. I purchase several of these each year for my employees. In my opinion this little recorder is the best one available at a decent price. Make sure you get this exact model number. state-of-the-art old school
Unlike the Sony model for which you need a degree in computer engineering, this works intuitively for the note-taker and is a substantial step up from previous Olympus models. The advertised battery strength is another huge advantage over the same thing made by Sony. If you want a complicated unit whose instruction manual requires a microscope and has USB capability and essentially looks like a USB thumb drive, that’s the Sony model.
