Top quality chisels without the stinging price of some brands.
A well known YouTube woodworker uses the term "lifetime tools" for tools well made so that they are likely to last a lifetime. The Axminster chisels I have bought seem like that to me, tools I will have until I am too old to use them. They are all well ground and the correct shape which makes them easy to sharpen and then easy to keep sharp. The steel holds an edge for a reasonable amount of use but isn't so hard that it is difficult to get that edge in the first place. No flashy handles on mine, just simple plain wood with a very light finish on it, very utilitarian and just what I want from a chisel handle. There is a leather wrap between the metal of the chisel and the wooden handle to slightly cushion the impacts of the mallet, a nice touch that lengthens the life of the tool. Top quality chisels without a top drawer price.
