A neat, modern, hi-tech, effective, vacuum cleaner....nicely priced alongside the more expensive Dysons
PROS:
Nice machine, quite light and very manoeuvrable. I now look forward to vacuuming and get it done quickly and easily. I like the re-chargeable cordless arrangements, and find a fully charged machine quite adequate for my vacuuming needs in a a three bedroom semi. The carry handle is nicely balanced for humping the machine up and down stairs, and emptying is dead easy. The Sir-Ram and Rotary Roller Brush deliver an excellent clean over all surfaces...... far superior to the machines that simply suck only. The little hand-held stable mate is useful too (and often bundled with the upright machine). Both machines
CONS:
The machine is a tad noisy, but then vacuuming is usually attended to after everyone is awake. You do need to keep an eye on the rollers..... if they pick up loose thread, long hair, etc, and build up in the left & right roller bearings, then the friction causes heat which can melt the end-bearing plastic housing. This can be avoided by inspecting the underside of the roller periodically and clearing any accumulated fouling material. This can often be the case with second-hand offerings on eBay (as was the case with both of these machines that I bought on eBay). Do test and inspect when buying second-hand....an overly noisy machine is one clue, as well as visible fouling of the roller housing..... in particular inspect the left and right roller-bearing housings for signs of mishape due to heating (see pictures attached).
GOOD NEWS: A kit of a new set of rollers and two roller bearings + screws can be got on eBay for around £15 to £20 and replacement is easy enough - a screwdriver is the only tool required.
SUMMARY;
A good buy and recommended..... I have two uprights and one hand-held, all bought second-hand on eBay. Both uprights required roller/bearing kits, but are now working very well and efficiently in our household.
