Classy, small footprint audio system excellent for any computer system.
The Altec-Lansing-VS4121 2.1 Computer Speaker system has been a real boon for all my computer work for the last five years. This purchase only replaced the Left/Right speakers due to an electrical connection problem but all is working great again. The subwoofer did not need replacing, but all three speakers are part of the same proprietary system and cannot be used separately. There are newer 2.1 systems from Altec-Lansing and other powered speaker manufacturers, but this model has rich, deep, wide frequency response audio great for my use not only listening to my files, but comes in very handy in editing/modifying sound files on audio editor apps. Very adjustable treble, bass controls with surprisingly good mid-range response from small footprint compact speakers. Of course, the subwoofer is larger and fits under the desk, but is strongly powered and provides great bass and cross-over. Sounds and performs better than a typical "computer speaker" system. This system is all audio; no LED lights, flashy colors or surprise gimmicks to take up space and attention from the audio. While this Altec-Lansing-VS4121 2.1 system is no longer manufactured, the three components are still available in good working condition on eBay, which I appreciate.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

AWESOME!!!
Altec has been one of the best brands for decades in all categories, from professional to home. I have four of this babies. one in my office...it sure rocks my office. I also have three in my music room. One is enough, but when I want to rattle the walls I turn on the second set, but when I want to feel the music going through my body, I turn on the third set....Boy there is nothing like loud music that you can really feel. The quality is great. Crisp highs and mids and the bass sub sure fills the room. What is great about this set of speakers is the fact that you have a control for highs & mids and a separate control for the bass, along with a volume control. A Good Deal for the Price
For many years, I owned a set similar to this one. When it finally gave out, I was glad to find this one--and at a great price. At first there appeared to be problem with static, especially when it came to listening to TV shows; however, after researching the problem, it appears that static is a recurring problem on subwoofers, new or old. Another problem surfaced when I tried to participate in Zoom broadcasts, and the sound would simply go out (and I was NOT on mute!). Excellent Speakers
Bought the original Altec Lansing VS4121 set back in 2004 and loved it's capability from day 1. In a recent move, (12 years later), one of the speaker cables became damaged. A disappointment

Maybe next time.
This product worked for 2 hours the day I received it and it hasn't worked since. I can't get any sound out of it even though the lights are on and it should be working. I made sure to use a power surge outlet and I lowered the volume before shutting it off so there wouldn't be any surges when I turned it back on.
