JVC HR-DVS3U DVS3 Mini DV MiniDV SVHS ET Player Recorder Dual Deck VCR
The JVC HR-DVS3U / DVS3 is a dual deck with a MiniDV tape recorder / player and an S-VHS recorder / player. It has the capability to "Dub" from MiniDV to S-VHS or vice versa. The MiniDV unit can receive input from your camcorder via FireWire, S-Video, or Composite Video and Analog Audio RCA cables. It can also output via FireWire, S-Video, or Composite Video and Analog Audio RCA cables to a compatible Monitor or other recording device. The S-VHS recorder / player can also output S-Video or Composite Video and Analog Audio RCA cables to a compatible Monitor or other recording device. I feel it's a Very Good Quality "consumer" level product. Can't say whether or not the JVC Professional line would be a Better product or not. I've found my unit to be reliable and use it to play back MiniDV tapes to my TV - instead of using the camcorder. I've also found the S-VHS unit gives a nice playback quality picture. It's internal filtering and tape management features improve the video quality. I can recommend this unit for the Consumer looking to playback MiniDV tapes or to "Dub" them to a different type of Media for storage.

Jury is still out
The VHS part works but not the mini-DV part (it eats the tape) which was my primary reason for buying the machine. Finding someone to repair the unit has been difficult, therefore, no answers as to quality construction, image quality or recommendation. Don't know as I have not been able to use it yet.
