Fast & Excellent Espresso Machine, but no Beans Empty Warning
The Philips unit makes excellent espresso, cappucino and coffee, quickly and with excellent flavor. It's easy to use, with a good UI. The sole significant drawback is that there is absolutely no indicator when the bean hopper is empty, and in the case of most placements, you cannot see visually how many beans remain. Therefore, when it is running out of beans, rather than stopping operation and showing a warning light (as it does when the water level is too low). Dissapointing
I was so excited to finally purchase a coffee maker that has the burr grinder incorporated within the system delivering a perfectly brewed cup of coffee. Although, It is a bit disappointing that the hotplate does not seem to maintain the heat of the coffee, the burr grinder needs almost daily cleaning and if not the water backs up while dripping and eventually overflows (this has happened several times). In hindsight and in considering the cost of this machine, I would have just bought the burr grinder separately and saved myself a lot of time in maintenance and frustrated morning messes.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

The redesign of this Coffee Maker is wonderful
This is our 2nd purchase of this particular model. The first one lasted us 2 years and 4 months, however we are 'power' coffee drinkers, and we most likely worked it to death. The old design was tough to clean because it allowed moisture to enter the bean shoot, thus creating a sticky mess. Cuisinart seems to have solved that problem. The bean shoot is now very dry, and can actually be cleaned using the brush provided. Not really knowing the benchmark time for a coffee maker to brew 12 cups, we answered 'no' to the 'does it brew quickly' question. Very flexible features
Everything that the description says it does...it does. As for my own taste the 12 cup grind setting uses more beans than necessary. Have No Hesitations Buying this Coffee Maker
I home roast my own coffee and have become very particular over time regarding my coffee quality. I purchased this model mostly because it has a built-in burr grinder (which works great). I have had it for over a month and I am HAPPY with this coffee maker. I roast about a half a pound at a time because that is what the hopper will hold (whole beans). The half pound will brew about 3 full carafes (12 cups on strongest setting) before it needs a refill. The only thing I have to do each time is clear out the gold filter and add water. A cool feature is that the grinder is also coupled with the timer for brewing. So if you use the timer function, it begins with the coffee being ground and dropped into the filter, then the water drip starts. This is great because it means your beans are ground immediately before brewing which helps with cleanliness and consistency of flavor. I would recommend this product to anyone for quality. The only negative is that it is a little pricey for someone who is not serious about their coffee. But for anyone more than the average coffee drinker, this is a great buy (it might even convert some moderate coffee drinkers into a fanatic like me). Poor attempt at a grinder coffee maker
There are a lot of parts you have to dis-assemble and re-assemble each use. I have the coffee strength set to minimum and set at the lowest number of cups to brew to try to get the coffeemaker to brew coffee that is not so strong. Good product - Does everything it claims.
So far this seems better than the Capresso which we replaced twice. Once was due to to grinder dying after 2-3 years. We replaced it with a reconditioned unit which lasted another couple of years before the heating element died. Poor reviews of newer Capressos led us to better ratings for Cuisinart. This new Cuisinart unit seems more solid. It's quieter and fits under kitchen cabinet. Only (small) thing I don't like is my wife fixes her coffee later than me so she makes hers separately. With previous unit she just added water and ground another cup (she likes it strong). This unit detects there are grounds already in the unit and will not grind again until they are cleared. That's a good feature but a bit of a pain the way we use it. Work-around is simply to open door and fool the machine by picking up the basket holding the older grounds for a few seconds, replacing it and closing the door. Coffee the right way
It's a great coffee maker. Brew time isn't any faster than any other machine. The coffee bean grinder is my favorite feature. Because you don't have to load beans in it every single use.
