Could be 5 stars with design modification
I bought this after I had to return a Honeywell unit with a negative ion feature which aggravated my asthmatic lungs. This unit has an ultraviolet light which cleanses the air of mold, bacteria, and mildew spores which I believe is the concept. The only problem is that the blue light is way too bright at night and needs to be covered over with a pillowcase. However at the low setting it is very quiet and I hardly hear it in the bedroom at night. Since using this, I feel that my sleep is more restful and I am not as congested. I use this in the basement bedroom which probably has worse air than the main floor. I will probably buy another unit for another room, I think it can be used on the low setting while watching tv. Lightweight with great features
I like the style, and the fact that it takes up very little space, but I don't like the noise level at levels 2 and 3. My husband is a vapor, (which I why I purchased the purifier), and I can still smell the smoke in the room from time to time, with the purifier on, and I wake up with a sore, scratchy throat with a dry cough, which I expected that this purifier would clear the air so that I wouldn't have these symptoms.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Excellent Air Purifier at a Great Price
I bought this to replace an old air purifier in my bedroom. This had excellent reviews and was at a great price. What I like is how the charcoal prefilter seals to the face of the HEPA filter, allowing no gaps for air to bypass. The filters and the UV bulb, are affordable to replace (unlike some other brands). Construction is of high quality. UV light is really bright at night but can be turned off and turned back on when you wake up. This unit doesn't have all the gee-whiz bells and whistles of other brands but it's solid and does a great job without breaking the budget. I highly recommend.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I purchased this unit to replace an aging other manufactures unit for which I could no longer get replacement filters. It was listed as refurbished but it came in original packaging. The instructions were a photocopy but otherwise everything looked brand new. The unit is very quiet on the low setting which is what I use most. I will use a higher speed if I need to freshen up the air due to cooking odors or smoke. I keep the UV light on constantly. very quiet and worth the money-AC4825
I purchased this because i live in a small apartment and my neighbor smokes, so the smell was coming into mine. Not knowing anything about this brand i did some research and prayed this one will work better than the one i purchased. It is quiet. I can't say if it is a good value or not. But for the money that i paid, it is doing a good job. Doesn't have that smell like other air purifiers i have used in the past. We purchased a manufacturer's refurbished unit and were very pleased. It's cost was reasonable, it runs very quiet (almost can't hear it on the low setting while it is right by our chairs), and it seems to be doing its job in cleaning the air. Very good value , well refurbished, out of box quality.. Would buy another if I needed. My rating of Not quiet is obviously subjective depending on fan speed setting. I will add that Im hearing impaired with substantial hearing loss , am sensitive to noise , definitely prefer a quiet environment. Even so The fans not noisy in my book. Maybe those who review this product as being "too noisy" should toughen up some ??? !!!!! Id also like to add that it IS pretty effective at clearing smoke (exhaled tobacco , or "whatever") from a room within its capacity at low speed .definitely more effective at removing smoke rather than the smell of .. Guessing that the unit might also work pretty well at higher setting with continuous smoke from a lit cigarette or cigar .. Healthy Air Quality
Very nice unit. Price was great and for being refurbished it looks brand new. Excellent shipping. I have this unit in a room where my cats litter boxes are. I just wish it would contain the dust from the litter better still see dust on my furniture. Germ Guardian air filter.....
Wife has severe allergies and we have three of these filters around the house. have worked well for a couple of years with only filter changes/cleaning. they are somewhat noisy on high settings and ultra violet light is bothersome at night in the bed room, so it is turn off at night and turned to low speed. but they work good and help with dust/ pollen/smoke overall a good product....Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
