The Skate 2 game for the Xbox 360 picks up five years after the original Skate on both the Xbox 360 and PS3. In the wake of a devastating earthquake, the city of San Vanelona has all but forgotten how to have fun. It's your job to pick up a skateboard once again and to bring skating back to this bleak city. Your task isn't easy, however, as the corporation of MongoCorp has strict anti-skating rules. This corporation has security guards everywhere and has locked down all the best skating parks. Luckily, you have friends like Giovanni Reda who will help you take the city back for the skaters. This game was developed by EA Black Box and published by Electronic Arts. This title had an original release date of January 21, 2009. Skate 2 for Xbox uses the same control scheme as the original game. The "FlickIt" control scheme involves using the right analog stick to pull off grabs, tricks, and spins. By tracing the analog stick in specific patterns, you'll do the trick. These patterns resemble where a skater's feet would move on the board while performing the trick in real life. For example, a trick requiring the skater to pivot his foot would task the player with making a quarter-circle motion. You can chain multiple tricks together in an attempt to gain more points. The more moves you can pull off at one time, the more points you’ll earn. However, make sure you land successfully, or the trick won't count. This title also features new skating moves, such as skitching. Skate 2 is an open-world game where the entirety of San Vanelona is your playground. As a result, this Xbox title features a large amount of content. Players can progress the story through story missions. You can increase your reputation by completing optional challenges from groups such as Thrasher. You can play against the pros in special "throwdown" challenges to see who is the best skater. Every challenge you complete awards you with money that you can use to upgrade your skating equipment and your clothes. The harder the challenge, the more money you receive. Each mission will also unlock new points on the map and new skating accessories. If you get bored from skating the same locations, you can create your own spot. It's not all fun and games as MongoCorp frequently patrols the city. This corporation has placed caps on skating rails and objects that prevent you from skating on them. You must complete missions to remove these caps and to drive the corporation out of the city. However, if you get caught, you'll get kicked out of your current location, so tread carefully. This title has a rating of T for Teen by the ESRB. This rating is due to the mild violence in the title and the language used. This game title for Xbox features a 30-hour-long career mode and plenty of secrets to uncover. Skating fans will love the realistic approach and all the great spots to shred on. Even newcomers to the sport will enjoy the array of missions to undertake and play.
