My Side of the Mountain an Engaging Movie
Great flick, especially for kids. A 12-year-old boy with a penchant for science and the great outdoors is looking forward to vacationing with his family in the Laurentian Mountains of Canada. But at the last minute, the father has to cancel the trip. Unable to accept a delay, the boy packs his camping gear, journal and microscope, writes his family a goodbye note, and slips away to the mountains alone, planning to stay for months "on his own" -- like his hero Thoreau. Along the way, he experiences adventures, meets some unlikely characters, and tests his will against the harsh realities of nature.
