    An important social comment

    All the actors are excellent and the characters portrayed are profound. It tells the futility of war yet is strongly nostalgic even for ones who were never in the war, and Sir Alec Guinness is the star and never falters. I highly recommend it.

    I was disappointed to find that the film was not complete and the same as shown by the BBC. Much of the original had been cut out thus finishing prematurely and thus changing the plot.

    Normandy revisited

    I have been to Normandy and the invasion beaches often, this film reminds us in a sometimes serious, sometimes humerous way of what the allies went through. Well worth the viewing.
