I bought these units sold as 'faulty for spares' knowing their pedigree.
I have several sets of these which are used by the Community Radio Station I help run. I was prepared to take a chance and it paid off. One unit works fine but I have failed to repair the second. Electronics and servicing was my occupation. The failed unit is a source of spares for my other units. 'Good' is the best that I can honestly put on this purchase but I find these units outperform some Motorola units I had bought previously in audio clarity. Note that there are two versions of the Terrain 550, some have digital coding tones and CTCSS and give 968 combinations and others have only CTCSS coding and 304 combinations. The digital coded units cannot use the call tone to alert the other type but if using CTCSS, they can communicate with each other.
