    Absolutely brilliant!

    These films are absolutely brilliant! I've watched both films a few times and as good as they are, it's also quite sad how 'black' people were treated by the whites just a few years ago. Although the films are not based on fact, I can quite understand that it could be.

    An engaging story.

    If you don't know the outline of the story it tells of the trials and tribulations of the black people trying to survive while being slaves. This show the story of one family doing their best. This is most definitely a must watch story. Sad in places happy in others. The ups and downs of the slaves. Great story. I'm sure who ever watches this will be very satisfied at the end. 10 / 10.

    i now have roots and the next generation on dvd , and I would recommend to anybody. I was only young when the series , 1st came out on tv , in the 1970s , but I can take more out of watching , now I am in my 50s . it is a very good watch.
