Working in 1940s Baltimore on an unprecedented technique for performing heart surgery on "blue babies," Dr. Alfred Blalock (Alan Rickman - Love Actually) and lab tech Vivien Thomas (rapper Mos Def - Monster's Ball) form an impressive team.

About this product

Product Information

From becoming a team in the 1940s, surgeon Alfred Blalock and his gifted assistant Vivien Thomas performed miracles in heart surgery. But, being black, Vivien found that very little credit was to come his way. A clear-eyed but stirring real-life tale of injustice.

  • A very powerful film with a strong message.

This film is a real message on how America and Britain to some extent, however, about how America is still very much so to this day! The acting was superb, particularly that of Alan Rickman (sadly no longer with us) but who was a giant with whatever he did in the film industry. I can still hardly believe that much of the dreadful behaviour in this film, still happens to this day.
