MERRY XMAS
This is a fabulous 2cd helping good old fashioned talent at Christmas. A 17/18 year old BOBBY VEE recorded in 1962 was my highlight. He left us earlier this year but by golly he left a fabulous catalogue to enjoy for years to come. A marvellous album that is hard to find these days. From the same year is the best duo I have ever heard in The Everly Brothers. And in all my years until now I had never heard them sing Christmas, this is perfection. Harmonising, solo, all with the accompaniment of The Newtown Boys Choir. Christmas eve music. The Four Seasons also from'62 were never a group I thought of at Christmas but again this is good with some great medleys. Naturally the original Elvis Christmas from the fifties is just full of memories of the period, one can forget how innovative and good he really was. All told this is a grand feast, the quality is excellent and sounds natural. Go for it.
