Brilliant, well worth the money
I bought this as my new Labrador still has the 'run up and greet everybody' habit. He is already trained to recall but I was getting tired of calling him back. On unwrapping it I was impressed at the quality for such a budget price. It is light, the lanyard is good quality and once it is draped around my neck I forget it is there, I've just checked and I am still wearing it now 3 hours after my morning walk! The rubber sleeve is a snug fit over the whistle, no chance of it falling out, and protects the locking nut once you've set the whistles tone. The adjustable tone is great for calling individual dogs but I find its best use is to set the tone so I can just hear it myself. The free e-book is an added bonus and conatins some handy tips for old timers and new dog owners alike. Within 3 days of starting using this whistle when my new lab starts on a 'run & greet' I give a blow and he stops dead and runs back to heel. I also use it to call all my dogs back when I let them go for a romp in the fields, no more shouting over the wind. And no more selective hearing when they find something interesting (usually a half rotted rabbit). I find it a great assest and wish I had bought one a long time ago. This whistle is excellent and works really well for my dog for recalling him. I have tested it out a few ways, by blowing it once when upstairs in the house, and he was at that moment in the garden, and the result was he came running up the stairs and straight to me, first time. I have used it to stop him barking at length at people outside walking by. He has responded to this whistle straight away and I did not have to find the right pitch. He responded and is still responding and not got used to it or it has not lost its potency for alerting him. The whistle is the most useful when recalling my dog from a distance when on the playing fields, and that my voice would not carry that far. One blow of the whistle and I am glad to say, he comes running. Using this to train a semi deaf cat
ok I have only had this product a few days so I can't actually confirm that it will work for certain however for what it costs I thought it would be a good idea to purchase and see if it would work on a semi deaf elderly cat. My cat can no longer hear me when I call her. I have tried to whistle on different pitches and finally found a sound she can hear. It is early days. She can definitely hear the noise but at present is a bit confused as to where the sound is coming from (she has been deaf for a couple of years so I suspect it feels a bit weird to her to suddenly be hearing noises again).
