Better than most music stands, and cheaper than some less good ones.

Having had folding stands which always seem to have a weak point either in the leg area or the hinge point, I reluctantly bought this stand. I say reluctantly because I use it for busking and portability is an issue. I was surprised that it is relatively light, and relatively easy to transport. It is definitely a lot more sturdy than folding ones. The stand is especially secure and stable (on a windy day when busking, this is important). The top slots into place, and, though it has a thumbscrew to tighten to secure it, I don't really think this is necessary, as it just sits in there, and wouldn't come out unless lifted up by the top. Takes very little time to assemble and pack away. Haven't given it five stars, as I am not sure how the top part will withstand my relatively-rough use over time. But I daresay most users will not be lugging it about as much as me.

  • Most critical review

Too light-weight for the use I shall be putting it to - it will be broken soon unless handled with great care.

I was trying to replicate a music stand I already have which looks the same as in your picture, and indeed has almost the same platen - but yours is a flimsier version using thinner material for the tubing and legs which makes the whole thing lighter and less likely to stay put if accidently knocked. Also I don't give the screws much of a lifetime, being a far less robust plastic knob to metal thread join. I wrote off to complain that one of these knobs was smashed on arrival, either in transit or storage before being posted - but two weeks later I am still waiting for an acknowledgement. I bought three - the other two arrived intact. Phone me please - 07730 982 809 - if you can put this right. Thank you.

  • Music Stand

Briefly I compare this product to another more expensive budget stand from another well known supplier. This stand arrived with better protection and intact. The extensions move up and down freely so no extra strain is put on the leg joints as they open downwards. The stand is described as a conductor stand but is exactly the same as a standard music stand with the benefit of being slightly wider giving more security with a 3 page music sheet or 2 pages and a solo sheet. There has to be a trade off at this price and I realize that the stand is not going to take to much punishment. The rivots securing the shelf have some movement - I have a more expensive stand which has 2 solid arms at the back of the shelf to secure it. The stand comes with 2 flexible levers to hold your music down when playing outside or in a drafty arena. With this type of modern stand it is also easy to apply magnetic strips to help in this task. I have purchased this stand as a backup that can be used as an additional stand to carry out to an audience. This stand is good value.

  • Great value for money

This music stand is strong, firm and stable in operation. Adjustment knobs are large and easy to turn with good height and angle control. We are using them for a rehearsal room for small groups such as our Sackbut Ensemble. They look good and are great value for money.

  • For under £10.00, one can't complain too much

It is not heavy duty - and there are more sturdy examples of similar design - but you get what you pay for, so - for under £10.00, one can't complain too much. Specifically, the tripod is reasonably robust, but the top (sheet metal) part that is intended to hold sheet music, is not of a heavy enough gauge to withstand the combination of the somewhat flimsy polythene packaging used and any sort of robust handling during the postal process. My purchase arrived with the top part creased and a little out of shape as a result. If the packaging could be improved into something more sturdy, (a box?), where the tripod and sheet music holder are kept apart, and where the sheet metal is better protected during carriage, the delivered item would be more likely to be acceptable bythe purchaser as, although not really heavy duty, the stand is robust enough for a use where the sheet music holder part of the stand is not going to be roughly handled.

  • Heavy duty!

Having bought lots of lightweight, foldable music stands...they didn't stand the test of time and bent/broke easily. This is strong, sturdy, yet lightweight. I would recommend this to any music people out there, and at a very good price too.

  • music music stand

This is not as strong and sturdy as the proper conductors music stand, but then its not as expensive either. They're perfectly usable, and should last a good couple of years. It's a pity the table is not foldable otherwise I would bring them for rehearsals. They stay at home as a permanent stand as they're too bulky to carry around.

  • good product but needs better packaging.

good value for money needs better packaging! I did not buy it as a music stand I adapted it for a works project. I did not need the music holder which was bent on arrival thus the need for better packaging. I do have one of these for music which did arrive OK can't remember how it was packed but it was not damaged.
