Very bright bulb, but it gets hot!
As you can no longer get 150 watt tungsten lightbulbs, I bought this light bulb to illuminate my model railway. I have found it difficult to find a lightbulb that is bright enough, so I ordered one of these. It is extremely bright and gets very hot and makes a smell of plastic which gets less noticeable as the bulb gets older. I have a metal and glass lamp shade and a brass 2-pin fitting which is not inflammable. This bulb is all right in a standard lamp where it cannot come into contact with anything accidentally, but I would not use it with any kind of plastic, card or paper lamp shade. The colour temperature of this light is more blue than daylight would be and the light is rather harsh and not easy on the eyes. It produces shadows which makes it good for photography. This light bulb makes quite a good photoflood and is preferable to an LED for making videos of your model railway. If your application is reading or crafts, I would get an LED in preference to this. However, LEDs cause flicker recording video, so I would get this bulb if your appilcation is video or photography. The instructions on the box warn you not to fit the bulb inside an enclosed fitting.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Pretty accurate daylight bulb !!
After trying many different daylight bulbs, I had given up being able to paint at night but this bulb gives out just, the perfect and accurate light I need to paint reborn dolls and I would highly recommend it for crafting day and night.
