In order to extract juice from apples they need to be pulped before pressing - without doing this the apples are too hard to be pressed effectively. To make the pulp, they need to passed through a pomace machine - or scratter, a machine that basically mashes the apples up.
As with any apple presser, the better your scratcher, the easier pressing becomes and the higher the the juice yield. A good scratcher also reduces both the stress on the press and those doing the pressing!
Looks fantastic, ready to juice my apples this weekend. The one I have already has the srew shaftsbury down the middle which has gone rusty and you have to put a hole in the brewing to go over the centre pole. This one swings away from the juicing unit, meaning the crusher can be put on top and crush the apples straight into the brew bag . Because the screw is on the top the brew bag is only going to come into contact with the pressing plate so the thread is kept away from the apples. Looks fan
