Vehicles effected Vauxhall Vivaro (2001-2016) Renault Trafic (2001-2016) Nissan Primastar (2002 2015). Due to worn and stiff gear components in the gearbox, the selector cables eventually fail. The plastic bush at the engine end of the cable wears, forcing the cable to pop off the selector arm causing loss of gear selection whist driving.

Quick and easy fix
Just brilliant - my gear linkage came off about 20-30 times in just one day and I was forced to make a temporary repair using cable ties. When the repair clip arrived it was very good quality and I fitted it in about a minute - it’s been fine ever since and I have no doubt it will be a permanent repair. My gear linkage cable popped off on my 06 reg 201k vivaro. I ordered this part it's very easy to fit, I'm not mechanical minded at all but found it very easy to fit. Worth a tenner if it just worked once.
This is the second of these van’s I’ve had and I had a lot of trouble with the gear going limp because the cable came off with the first one. Clip fix
This clip is for the end of the cable which is a ball and socket joint. The plastic socket wears and then the steel ball comes adrift so you loose gearbox function. All of the info and video help i came across shows this problem occurring at the gearbox end of the cable my problem was at the gearstick end. The clip is suitable for both ends. You could make a similar clip yourself I suppose but the clip is well made it’s stainless steel and for the money not worth the bother. It does the job and I feel it will last. Cheaper and easier than replacing the whole cable. I have bought another one to keep in the van in case I get caught out again. simple fix
gearbox saver this simple device is a game changer , I have always had Vivaros , the last one I sold on as it kept popping out of gear , sold it for nothing as was informed it would need a new gearbox and linkage , and all it would have cost me was the price of this simple repair system It literally took me 15 mins to fit , , it was a tight fit to get it over the top of the joint and make sure the bottom was inside the clip ,the screws were a bit awkward to screw in but i think I made it harder than it should have been . A quality piece of kit does exactly what you want and expect.
I paid a little extra for what seemed to be the original design of this kind of repair product and wasn't disappointed. Although it never came with the etched logo design as described in the advert and just a sticker, it is quality and worked exactly as you would expect. Look around 2 minutes to fit as I did have to manhandle a few pipes out of the way and pretty much fit it blind. But it wasn't too difficult.
