A cheap but useful addition to the kitchen

Pretty simple and straightforward to set up. Doesn't look out of place on the kitchen unit and is ready to use all the time. Dispenses your required amount hot or boiling water slightly quicker than the average electric kettle. The integral Brita filtered water is excellent addition to it. I live in a high water chlorine area so wanted a dual function dispenser. The varying temp and quantity dials work fine and so far have delivered what asked to do. The retractable drip tray is a good feature too. There are a few drips following use so I usually leave the cup in situ a couple seconds longer. I also place the mug on a small tupperware box to raise it slightly higher to the dispenser pipes as water does tend to splash as the mug fills but it's not much of an inconvenience really. All in all, I'm very happy with the appliance.

Bad taste, leaks, moisture in screen, broke easily.

Perhaps I got a particularly bad one. I sent it back. It kept randomly leaking water all over the counter, pouring onto the floor. After something like a day and a half of trying it out, the jog dial broke. There was condensation inside the display. Sometimes there was more or less condensation, but it was always there. The water that comes out is pretty hot and close to boiling, but not hot enough for my liking. I prefer my water to be vigorously boiling, for my tea. If it doesn't make the teabag puff up with steam, it's not hot enough. My girlfriend found the water from it undrinkable, due to a bad taste. We live in Wales and our water is very good. After this, I bought the Addis Thermo Pot that ejected hot water out of the spout, straight at me, amongst having other problems. I've ended up with a stainless steel kettle that goes on my induction hob. I've given up on hot water dispensers.

  • Simply a great idea and machine

This is probably the best thing I have bought in a long time. No more waiting for all the water in the kettle to boil as it only heats and dispenses the right amount for the drink you are making. Need more hot water no problem you can dispense up to 1.5 litres. Once you have worked out your various cup capacities ( most are 240-260 ml ) you just set the dial and press start within a few minutes the tea or coffee is ready dispensed automatically. I read some negative reviews re taste of drinks but have not experienced any problems in that regard and actually the beverages taste better. The unit is very stylish and does not take up a lot of bench space and after use goes into standby mode automatically. Very impressed with this machine and would recommend it.

  • A very good purchase.

This is an excellent product just simply fit the filter, fill with water, set the amount of water required and press the start button and the correct amount of boiling water is dispensed into the cup/mug etc, you can fill two mugs at the same time if required, all you have to remember if using different types of mugs is that some are smaller than others so you may have to change the amount of water required but you soon remember what each mug/cup requires. The temperature of the dispensed water has three settings as for some teas (green) you should not use water at 100 degrees as it burns the leaves. The drip tray has a "Full" indicator and may be slid back under the dispenser if you wish to dispense 1.5l of boiling water into a saucepan. All in all a great purchase, it will even tell you when it needs cleaning.

  • A1 machine

Over the past few years we have had various coffee machine costing from £35 through to hundreds of pounds, but we ended up back with a kettle because of not having the option to dispense large volumes for cooking etc. But this left me unable to prepare a drink for myself as I’m disabled and unable to lift a kettle even with a minimal amount of water inside. Then just by chance I found this machine and I knew we had to have it. After ordering it arrived within 3days. Packaged safely we removed it from the packaging and set it up to use. It’s got a good size water tank that has a built in Britain’s water filter with a digital display so you know when a new cartridge is required. And that’s it your ready to go it’s got one or two cup fill option, it’s Quite boil, also you can adjust the boiling temperature to make the perfect hot drink. The base there’s a pull out drip tray to catch any spills the chrome part has plenty of holes along with a slot quality that will indicate Full in red when it needs emptying, it’s up to you if you leave the drip tray out or store it back away. Finally a water dispenser that does all that a family need, So glad I brought just in time for the festive season. If your thinking about maybe buying one then with my experience don’t delay you won’t regret it.

  • Big, expensive, worth it

As hot water dispensers go, I’ve seen/had/used them all. This is the only one that ticks all the boxes. If you’re looking for a single mug shot, then the small Breville Hotcup is fine - although it gets pretty grimy and sounds like a choking baby when it dispenses. You will though, inevitably, find that one “cup” doesn’t satisfy, and search for a larger/adjustable one to cover the carrots in the saucepan. The larger Breville however suffers from a fatal design flaw that they’ve never felt the commercial need to fix - in that the hoses are the same for its smaller brother, and boil their way loose in about month, killing the water flow. This, along with other designs also don’t dispense nearly enough water, even when fully functioning. Which leaves the Morphy R. It’s large, and not “pretty”, but very rectangular so it can be placed neatly in most places. It’s expensive, but shows it with its very good build quality, display and button controls. It amply dispenses small to large quantities of water that’s very easily controlled. It has a neat double spout so you can fill two cups simultaneously. It also has a self detecting cleaning cycle which is essential since the element is enclosed. This will warn you when it needs descaling and instructions on how to do that are included. Other v small criticism: the hopper is too small for the amount of water it could suck-up in a maximum boil (due to a safety feature on the valve). This isn’t a problem if you don’t insert the captured Britta filter - filling instead from your separate filter jug that I’m sure you have (since you’re looking at hot water dispensers for Pete’s sake!). Filling this way means you can store more water in the hopper. Do not consider any other product. This one is the winner. Sorry to waffle.

  • Good hot water almost instantly.

Replaced an old type - holds more water, variable quantities of water per operation, really hot makes good tea and mine does not taste unpleasant as reported by others. Also use it when I need hot water when cooking or even washing up as my domestic supply takes ages to get to the tap! Expensive but worth it.

  • Great product

Really pleased with this product, instant hot water really easy to use and clean been disabled has made my life easier. Would recommend this to anyone had a different make before but the water was tepid as this one you can change the temperature just how you like it, love the product definitely a thumbs up from me.

  • Disappointing

You need to know the capacity of each mug. We have a notebook next to it to remind us. We got it as we have my 92 year old Mother living here. She cannot manage changing the settings, so have to remember to turn it back to the volume for her mugs. It also splashes as it pours due to the space between 'spout' and the cup. However I do like the choice of temperatures. Plus it looks really smart.
