A young man with Down syndrome anchors this engaging documentary. UP SYNDROME centers on Rene Moreno, a 23-year-old man living with the syndrome in San Antonio, Texas. Moreno's childhood friend, Duane Graves, directs this look at the life of a man whose existence lies between the typical 20-something experience and living as someone whom society considers "disabled." UP SYNDROME doesn't take the sentimental route with its portrait of Moreno, but it paints a genuine portrait of a man trying to live beyond expectations.
