A David Essex double. In 'That'll Be the Day' (1973) Essex is an angry young teenager growing up in the 50's. The only outlet for his frustrations is Rock and Roll music, which leads him on the rocky road to freedom. 'Stardust' (1974) picks up the older Essex, now a successful star but used and abused by the business and on the decline.

It's got two great drummers in, what more can you want.
First saw this film on TV when i was very young and impressionable. Brought back all the same feelings when watching it again a long time later. Absolute classics from the 1970s. A must have.
These two 1970s movies are 2 of my favourites, it tells the story of jim maclaine (a very young and good looking david essex) and his rise to stardom. They are clever intelligent movies and paint stardom in a very warts an all fashion. I can't praise these movies enough. Even now I still rememberAdam Faith's line in stardust when he gets rid of the deadwood holding david essex's character back; "fancy a drink?" Great stuff.
