Reviews4 stars out of 5 -- "The record itself is a masterpiece of bitterness and cynicism....The self-lacerating honesty makes it the most fascinating album of his early career.", "...the record as a whole has not the charm that his first develops after a long while--it is not as likable, because it is frequently down and out depressing...", Ranked #5 in The NME "Top 30 Heartbreak Albums" - "...His most vicious, lonely and unforgiving album....Much, much more than the sum of its dark, monumentally crafted parts, and a soundtrack to a generation of bedsit breakups."
Leonard Cohen’s 3rd Lp .. with arrangements by Paul Buckmaster, who gives the songs very subtle treatments and doesn’t get in the way of Cohens voice and guitar on this batch of very good songs.. in fact some of my favourites by Mr. Cohen… This really is a must have for anyone interested in this man’s songs… his voice is strong and like all great singers you are entranced by his delivery… which is what a singer wants… all in all a beautiful album…
Good on you Lenny … you did your bit and thanks…
