Works, but read the instructions and limitations carefully. It presumes that you already have (or can obtain) a valid product code. I accepted Microsoft's offer to convert from Windows 7 to 10. Following a crash, I bought this product on the understanding that if I installed without a product code, Windows 10 would activate after I went online and signed in with my Microsoft account. Didn't work. I was never able to activate Windows 10, apparently because Microsoft identified this as an unauthorized version. I was able to operate my PC, but with severe limitations. I bought this to reload my laptop that has a new hard drive installed. Would not boot from the thumb drive at all.
