About this product

Product Information

Described by the developers as a "3-D Animated Adventure", Gold Rush! is based on the mid-19th century rush for California gold. Three completely different expeditions challenge your character, Jerrod Wilson, to travel treacherous paths to reach the mother lode. In the first quest, you'll journey by ship to Panama through the Gulf Stream and then northward by foot through Central American jungles. The second expedition is an overland path across America by various means of travel (e.g., stagecoach, wagon train, canal boat) and the third adventure has you boarding an east coast ship bound for California by way of Cape Horn. The game is based on actual historical events and features geographic accuracy (map included). Gold Rush! uses the text parser method of inputting (typing) verb/object on a command line and features nearly 150 artfully drawn scenes and locations.

  • Classic game from a dying genre

A classic Sierra adventure from the graphic adventure game genre that defined an era of gaming! The graphics aren't great, even for it's time, but for anyone chosing to play a game of this age now, that just adds to the charm. What it lacks in graphics, it more than makes up for with it's rich story and engaging problem solving. Not just a great game, this also epitomises the era of 'big box' pc games, with a beautifully illustrated cover, supporting printed media including a full colour map, and both 3.5in and 5.25in floppy disks. A must play for those who pine for the great adventure game era of the 80's and 90's, or those who just want to experience the nostalgia of holding a physical game again, smelling the aged cardboard box and listening to the grinding and clicking of the disk drive as it whirs into action!
