Konami's sequel to International Superstar Soccer 64 features over 17,000 motion-captured animations, commentary by U.K. announcer Tony Gubba and an additional camera view, allowing players the option to play from a vertical perspective of the field. The game offers 52 international teams in nine different stadiums, and while authentic players are absent, those included have been modeled after real-life counterparts on their respective teams. Gamers also have the option to create their own star athletes (assigning a name, number, face, height and ratings in ten skill areas) or trade those who aren't performing to their best ability.<br><br>Speaking of ability, players will differ in morale and "motivation" during the game, which can affect your team's overall performance. The three primary modes of play include Open Game, which is one match, International Cup, which has you guiding your team through regional qualifying rounds as well as both league and championship matches, and World League, which pits 48 teams in a season totaling 94 matches. In addition, the game lets players take part in one of eight different pressure situations in the Scenario mode.<br><br>This mode places you in the middle of a game trying to accomplish certain heroics, such as playing as underdog Japan with the score 0-2 and only two minutes left in the second half. One more thing -- the opposing team happens to be Brazil! Training mode lets players work on the controls and develop a strategy for attacking the net, while the Penalty Kicks mode has you on the field looking toward the goalie. Gamers can assume the role of either the kicker or goalie as they try to score or block a shot.<br><br>Up to four players can compete simultaneously, but a Controller Pak with 118 free pages is needed to save information. Moves include through passes, feint kicks, heel lifts, sliding, headers and lob shots, while a new meter allows for loft on free kicks and corner shots. Those who prefer to set their team's strategy can choose between 17 preset formations and 16 preset tactics, or they can customize their own style of play! Other notable features include five difficulty levels, three game times (three, five or seven minutes), three different referees, and optional yellow cards and fouls.Product Identifiers
