Great for giving your home videos a new life.

I have owned 3 different VHS to MAC/PC devices and have never been happy with the results. The quality has never been as good as i think it should be, plus it seems that with all those kind of gadgets, that if you have an old vhs tape that when there’s a bad spot on it, there’s some kind of glitch and you get a green or blue screen with no audio for maybe about 10 seconds, and sometimes when the picture and audio come back, they’re out of sync for a few seconds.. that can be really irritating and you always lose footage. With this VHS to DVD device it doesn’t happen… thank god. Here are some Pros and cons..

Pros: 1. The quality is better than from the VHS to MAC/PC devices i have owned.
 2. Really easy to use (very important)
Cons: 1. It said: Recordable disc formats: DVD+R, DVD+R Dual Layer, DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD-R Dual Layer, DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, VHS Cassette, VR Supported….. However.. I’ve tried both DVD+R and DVD-R and only the DVD-R seems to work for me. Not a huge problem, but would have been nice to know that before i bought 50 DVD+R.
 2. Not really a con but, you of course need to rip the dvd’s if you want to store the videos on your computer or a cloud, but with software like Handbrake it’s easy and you get good quality files that are not very big. In my opinion it’s still worth it to record your videos to dvd this way, and then ripping them on to your computer, than buying one of those VHS to MAC/PC usb things, they are simply not good.

    Good purchase

Quality as expected, very pleased. Easy to use and good quality dvds as a result. The only item that would make it better would be the ability to edit.

  • Good obsolete technology

The machine does what it says on the tin. I used it to copy mini dv tapes to DVD. You have to finalise the DVDs after you've completed the copying process, otherwise you won't be able to play them on any other machine. I made this mistake on my original copying, then my machine broke. However I was able to finalise 2 DVDs that I'd copied to on my old machine on this replacement machine. At first it refused but after a little while it did it successfully. Maybe the machine had to settle itself. The one area it fails on is the freeview tuner, the sound and picture is very poor, I tried using another aerial that works perfectly with another TV but no improvement, but to be honest I don't need it to tape or receive TV programmes so it's a small niggle for me.

  • Using the DMR EZ45V

I bought this machine specifically to transfer my VHS collection to DVD. It is perfect for the job. At first it is a liitle difficult to master the necessary procedures, as the manual available on line refers to a different model. (DMR EZ48V). However, there are several 'help videos' available on YouTube and with a little effort and common sense the procedures become easy to carry out. The picture quality is excellent in both VHS and DVD playback. If purchasing one of these machines ensure that the correct remote control is included as it it is an essential, not optional, part of operation.

  • . Easy to use, reliable and is 'self set up', usefull following a power cut.

This is the same model that I purchased, new, over 25 years. It is a real workhouse and totally reliable. This second recorder is for a family member. I have considered later versions of Panasonic combo recorders but they appear not to have any useful additional features; and were some £100 more expensive. I would recommend to anyone who is seeking reliable Combo VHS recorder to bag one of these as combo recorders are no longer manufactured.

  • A n excellent unit worth buying.

The video and DVD reproduction is excellent and it is simple to operate. I had a problem with the VCR when I first connected it as the cassette tape stuck when it was inserted in the unit and it would not eject. I contacted the supplier who offered to exchange it for a similar unit but a friend sorted out the problem and it has been working properly since the repair. I would recommend this model due to the excellent picture on VCR and DVD.

  • Perfect machine for converting your old tapes to DVD.

The transfer of old camcorder and VHS tapes to DVD has been really easy and the quality of the copies is as good as the source material. The machine supports DVD-R DVD+R DVD-RW DVD+RW and DVD RAM and will also play a standard DVD or VHS tape.

  • This machine is easy to use

I had a Panasonic recorder before so I found this one easy to use. I haven't learnt how to edit yet, we are just copying all our family VHS tapes onto DVD which this machine does perfectly.

  • Good quality and value

Very pleased. Had to send first model back as it had a fault but company sent a replacement under warranty and so far this is fine-able to record old videos onto DVD, my purpose for ordering, and am happy. Company very helpful when contacting them.
