The Yamaha RX-V1600 AV home theater receiver produces high-quality results. With three-room flexibility, it transmits audio from two to four channels to stereo speakers in other rooms or outdoors. Its HDMI compatibility lets your high-definition devices maintain picture quality while you alternate between them. With this XM Satellite Radio-ready product, you do not have to switch inputs. Simply press a few buttons on the remote control to change sources. Put the included optimizer microphone on your favorite seat. Then let the receiver adjust speaker settings to enhance the location's surround-sound effect.This Yamaha audio/video device can be attached to an array of home theater electronics. They include a DVD player, CD player, video cassette recorder, tape deck, turntable, and television. Operate all of the accessories with the receiver or its remote control. Adjust volume, treble, and bass levels in the same way. In addition to internal amplifiers, the unit includes a jack for headphones and an AM/FM radio. The radio has two antennas and the ability to preset up to 40 stations.The RX-V1600 provides eight speaker outputs. They are for the center, left, right, surround left and right, surround back left and back right, and subwoofer speakers. The unit works best when you select a subwoofer that includes a built-in amp. Arranging the speakers around your listening spot creates a surround-sound experience. Setting the surround back speakers beside each other produces optimal sound quality.In addition to speaker placement, the effect of surround sound comes from the receiver's technology, such as digital sound processors. The specialized presets with this unit include Silent Cinema, Virtual Cinema, tri-field, and quad-field CINEMA DSP. The unit also has 19 DSP programs that re-create the acoustics of real settings. For example, one is a music hall located in Vienna, Austria. Some of the programs use 5.1-channel processing. Built-in decoders include Dolby Digital EX, DTS, DTS 96/24, DTS Neo:6, Discrete 6.1, and DTS-ES Matrix 6.1. The THX Select2 feature, made by Lucasfilm, is designed to provide correct movie audio.This A/V receiver's seven-channel power amplifier outputs 120 watts at 8 ohms. It operates at 20 to 20,000 hertz, with 0.04 % THD. The seven-band graphic equalizer has a response bandwidth of 10 to 100,000 hertz. Ready to plug into an AC 120-volt electric outlet, the RX-V1600 consumes 500 watts of electricity when operating. Its total power output is 840 watts. The device uses receiver manager software and has a fluorescent built-in display.Connection types for input are optical and coaxial digital. The output connection type is optical digital. The device has HDMI and S-video jacks as well as composite and component video jacks. About 6.73 inches tall, the Yamaha RX V1600 is 17.13 inches wide and 17.2 inches deep.
