SynopsisOne of the architectural challenges for Frank Lloyd Wright was how to provide moderate-cost houses that were as good as expensive ones. His solution was the Usonian house--a term he coined for the United States of North America. With their horizontal floor-plans, open living spaces, walls of windows, carports, and patios, these houses became models for many houses that now cover the American landscape. Here are a dozen examples of Wright's Usonian house., Shows and describes ten houses Wright designed for moderate cost and modern features that include carports, open living spaces, walls of windows, and patios that open to the outdoors.
Book gave some good pics - no plans of houses, just pics and some information. Useful in a general way. Small book, easy to carry; only about 4x6. Didn't expect such a small book.
The negative comments about this book have stated everything it doesn't have (like floor plans) or huge photos. Well, it's a small and inexpensive book, so let's be clear: It's not the complete works of Frank Lloyd Wright with giant-sized photos. But it's a good start to understanding Wright's Usonian philosophy and houses. If you want bigger explanations, a bigger collection of buildings covered, and bigger photos, you should buy a bigger book! If you want a pretty nifty overview, this title will work!
