The story is told from various viewpoints - a colonial officer, a scientist, a lighthouse keeper and a ship's captain. The volcanic activity in 1883 led to explosions, tsunamis and ash clouds, and left more than 36,000 people dead.

Entertaining and Interesting
I really enjoyed watching this DVD, It grips you from the start and makes you want to learn more about the main characters after finishing watching it. It tells the last days from several perspectives. It must have been absolutely terrifying for those people caught up in it. The effects of the tsunami and earthquake's pyroclastic surges are realistically brought to life and how it effected the climate and the world in general. The DVD itself was wrapped well and speedily delivered. It definitely is one of the BBC's best docu-dramas in my humble opinion.

O rare find worth paying extra money to have it
This is a hard to find show. Extremely rare And largely unavailable. I paid a lot because I've been looking for it for about 10 years. Quality was excellent entertainment value is very high and it's historically accurate. Almost worth the money!
