    Crossman Vantage

This gun is fantastic! It is rugged, dependable, very accurate and very well made. The fiber optic open sights are incredible, it's like little light bulbs leading the way to the target, even in low light. The power is quite incredible, almost equal to my .22 rim fire rifle. I believe the 1200 FPS is accurate. The shots barely drop at 60 yards. I have use several types of pellets and they all work very well. It is a bit heavy though (about 8 lbs.) and the cocking is stiff but fairly easy to get used to when you master the technique. With that kind of power, it is worth it. The gun is very quiet, and does not sound like a gun going off at all. It sounds more like two pieces of metal hitting each other, sort of like slamming a screen door. That is just what I wanted for backyard plinking in a neighborhood area and I am very comfortable and happy with the sound effects. The pellets penetrate a heavy plastic bucket, sort of like a 5 gallon pail. They normally get stuck somewhere on the inside, and sometimes go all the way through. I think it has gotten a bit quieter as I have used it more. It comes highly recommended, from me anyway. I have not mounted the scope yet.

    Somewhat disappointing performance

Looks great, good quality gun. The downside is that it is very hard to operate the break action ( hopefully it will get easier with use) and I find it a bit noisy. Louder than I expected. Considering returning it or maybe selling it,

  • "Good quality and performance for the money"

For the money the overall quality of this air rifle is above average. The all wood stock and the metal parts have a nice finish. It is easy to load and accurate once you find the pellets it likes best. The weakest part of the rifle is the fixed sights (have not mounted the scope yet) and the trigger pull is a bit long. They work but are not the quality of the rest of the rifle. The trigger can be easily adjusted after checking out some video's on adjusting trigger pull. It has more than sufficient power for its intended use listed on the factory box.

  • FunGun

Tried four different types of pellets and found that the Crosman spire points were the most accurate in this particular air rifle. At 50 feet I was consistently hitting a quarter sized target. I only have about 60 shots through it. Break in is said to be 250. I can't wait to see how it performs at that time. The trigger is smooth and the included scope is easy to mount. You can't have nothing but fun with this air gun!

  • Great rifle at a Great price

I haven't completely gotten my Vantage broken in yet but so far it is a great air gun. My last air rifle cost three times what the Vantage did but I can not tell much difference in the quality. I love the nitro piston. It is much quieter than a spring loaded gun and there is much less recoil. All in all the Vantage is a great buy for the money spent.

  • Needs elevated see-through scope rings to see the iron sights.

This is a good rifle. It has excellent iron sights. However the scope rings should be elevated see-through rings tall enough to see the iron sights underneath the scope, for shots too close for a scope. Like finding a snake too close for using a scope. I installed elevated scope rings for this purpose. You should include the required Crosman brand silicon oil with the rifle. It's a little thing towards the cost, but worth lots in customer gratitude.

  • Great Break barrel Rifle for the Price point.

This is great, Break barrel air rifle. Nice solid rifle, real wood stock, Nitro Piston powered instead of springs, Adjustable trigger, Adjustable sights, Scope included fixed focus, adjustable for aim. The rifle has a lot of power, I have some paper targets stapled to a piece of plywood and its punching clear through the plywood with each shot. This is definitely not a toy, the pellets are flying so fast out of the barrel that they are breaking the sound barrel and causing a report. The only down side I see is that the trigger guard appears to be plastic along with the sights, but hey what do you want for under $100.00 Maybe I'll swap them out for steel replacements if I can find them.

  • Powerful and Accurate with a Cosmetic Flaw

This rifle is far more powerful than I expected. My paper targets are attached to a large cardboard box stuffed with over a foot of multiple folded cardboard boxes and backed with a half-inch thick wood board. I started lining up the scope with the target initially close at 15 yards away, and the lead pellets penetrated the foot-thick cardboard stuffing and were stopped by the wood board. (This way I can collect the lead pellets in the box and keep them from contaminating anything.) Other reviewers have criticized the scope as deficient, but it seems to work accurately for me up to 50 yards so far. My only complaint is that front part of the wooden stock has a large chip out of it that should have been caught and rejected by the manufacturer. The factory simply stained over the missing part and hoped no one would notice.

  • very good deal

Consistent small groups. trigger firm, but predictable (add longer adjustment screw and smooth the tip), not too heavy, plain, but nice wood stock, good weight. Very good product for the price. Id buy another if didnt have 4 other springers an 3 pcps. ( oh, non-automatic safety which is a plus for me). The ruger and umarex both have Very difficult safeties to push falward....and trigger is rough and gritty).
