Classic Early Electronica From A Song Writing Master
I used to have a home taped cassette of XL1 back in the day, and played it endlessly. So much so that the tape finally got chewed up in my car stereo. A pretty familiar story.
Consequently, to revisit this lesser-known side of Pete Shelley's output has been a pure joy. From the opening groove of Telephone Operator to the fade out on XL1, it's been the best trip down memory lane for a long time. And, what's better is the inclusion of two extra dub remixes.
Pete Shelley's contribution to power pop punk is legendary, in itself. However, his solo work - an exploration of early electronica - is just as significant, and well worth checking out.
