Not light hearted, but a Good period Drama.
Wonderful and powerful period drama, involving danger, romance, betrayal, violence and sexual tension. loved the characters, and the story which involved survival at all cost. One of the best French films ever!
I loved this film; the chemistry between the two lovers is superb (will they; won't they) set against wonderful Province in the middle of an epidemic and political turmoil. (reminds me of today?) It must have cost a fortune to make! Cosy Period Provencal Drama
Here we have two very good looking leads in a horseback travel film set in 19th century Provence from a novel by Jean Giono. The fiesty married female causes problems for the honourable young male as they career across a cholera infested landscape. Love is there and all the lushness of a period drama. It is a totally engaging and warm film to the enrich the heart. It does not date and the cinematography is supurb.
