Joe Don Baker stars as Sheriff Buford Pusser who decides to clean up McNairy County, Tennessee of illegal gambling, prostitution, moonlighting and crime aided only by a baseball bat. Based on a true story, despite the threats and violence against him and his family, Pusser refuses to give in despite standing alone until he's rid the town of the scum. At one level, an actioner about one good man's stand, its tone struck a chord during the Nixon years and it is very much worth watching from America's political view of that time.
