Brilliant Film!
This is my favourite film, first watched in the '70s. Sarah Miles and Robert Mitchum are excellent in their roles and John Mills is fantastic in the part of the village idiot in spite of the fact that he had no lines to learn! The theme music and the breathtaking Irish scenery are a perfect background to this romantic story. Ireland is such a beautiful country and I cannot think how anyone watching this film would not want to visit it. I am one of the lucky ones - I now live there!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Brilliant under-rated film which stays in the mind long after watching and, to me, is the equal of David Lean's other great epics. The photography of the beautiful West Irish coast setting is stunning. The characters are complex, often admirable but flawed.
