Powerful, easy to fit extractor hood.
I decided to fit this hood in my new kitchen, as it's very similar to the one I had in my previous house, which worked very well. The fan has a 15cm outlet, & is supplied with a length of 150mm aluminium ducting & a grey flap vent. It also comes with a plastic 150mm-125mm reducer, however, I wanted to reduce the outlet right down to 100mm, so I bought a separate one. The fan can also be used in recirculating mode, but for this you would need a clip-on charcoal filter. It attaches to the wall via two keyhole-shaped holes, so you can hook it over the screws. There is also a third hole for a safety screw. I really like the re-usable aluminium mesh filters, which can be cleaned in the dishwasher. The manual specifies a minimum fitting height of 65cm over a gas hob, but I fitted mine at 70cm so that the chimney was flush with the ceiling. The lead is fitted with a 13A plug, so you just need to install a socket in a convenient place. The fan has 3 speeds, selectable via push buttons. The LED lights are nice and bright, and provide ample lighting to assist with cooking. I really like this hood, and I think it's attractive, has a good extraction rate (360 m³/h at highest speed), and is easy to clean. I also liked the little cleaning pad provided by Bosch to clean the finger marks off the stainless steel after installation. My only slight niggle is it's not the quietest fan, especially at top speed. However, I would recommend this fan for any modern kitchen. Just make sure you fit it at the right height, so that the chimney is flush with the ceiling. Update: Since fitting the fan, I have found that quite a lot of cold air was blowing through from the outside, so I fitted a 100mm backdraught shutter between the reducer & the exhaust hose. You can hear a faint click when you turn the fan off, as the shutter closes by gravity. This has completely solved the cold draught problem, and my kitchen is now considerably warmer. The only thing to remember, is to make the valve easily accessible, as it may gather a bit of grease from cooking, and will need to be cleaned periodically
