    Control Board Working, Saved Money

My friend lost power during a recent storm. When the power was restored, she noticed the refrigerator light working but the fridge was no longer cooling. Easiest thing to do was pull out the fridge, UNPLUG IT, remove the bottom panel and vacuum/clean in, around and behind the fridge. Excess dust/dirt can make the fridge heat up and shut itself down to protect itself. After cleaning and inspection, the next logical and easy step was to remove the cover on the back of the fridge and evaluate the control board. I noticed right away that the board had some damage. After removing the board and putting it under a light, noticed some of the components had blown. Once the board is out, it's easier to notice damage if you flip the board over, where there are no components and the damage will stand out. With the model and serial number of the fridge, found the compatible control board and installed it. Install is easy (great video tutorials online if needed) and took about 5 minutes - again make sure the fridge is UNPLUGGED during the install. Once all the connections were made, plugged in the fridge and it started working. Put the cover back on and the fridge started to cool down after a couple of hours. I searched all over the web for this board and this price could not be beat. Shipping was fast - got it in about 3 days. Highly recommend this product if it's compatible with your fridge. Saved $500 from a repairman and $1000 for a new fridge.

  • Most critical review

    Get another refrigerator.

This was my 4th board, not to mention numerous other parts along the way. All the boards I got seemed to last maybe 2 years tops. This one make 3 days. All the refrigerators that use this board are no good. Design flaw, ....BIG one. You should look at a different refrigerator that does not use this board.

  • BE CAREFUL INSTALLING

These boards burn out often because of a bad DC motor in the freezer. The motor is only a $25 part and should be replaced at the same time as the control board if there is any indication that complete or partial motor failure is what caused the control board problem. Otherwise like me you will immediately fry the new control board you just installed. So how can you tell if failure of the DC motor in the freezer is what caused your control board failure? One way to know is if your freezer has been malfunctioning. If it's not getting cold enough to make ice, or keeping cold, or you don't here and feel the noise and air flow in the freezer. Another way to tell which is very definitive is to look at the two resistors on the control board. SEE PICTURES. If the upper one is burned out, your DC motor is failing and needs to be replaced at the same time you change out the board. Just sharing so others learn from my expensive lesson after frying the first replacement board I bought here. The resistor overloaded and burned out within just a few minutes.

  • Keep A Spare!

If you own a refrigerator that utilizes this main board, you will be replacing it eventually. GE should have included one in a plastic bag taped to the inside of the access panel. I have replaced mine twice in ten years time. Once was a board failure, the second time an evap fan failure taking out the second board. The cost of this board is a fraction compared to replacing with a new refrigerator and takes about 10 minutes fix, start to finish.

  • Saved the day with the best price and quality

After looking everywhere for the best solution I realized that replacing the board was the fastest and cost efective way to solve my fridge problem. Paying top dollar for a new one was my last option. Finding an afordable a used control board was my plan but the cheapest ones I found were close to buying a brand new one until I ran into this one. The quality was great and it was a simple plug and play replacement. My fridge has been brought back to life and has been running well for over 2 weeks now. Thank you so much for providing fast shipping and good quality products at the best price around. Saved the day!

  • Great seller and product

Seller was responsive and easy to work with, product was great, did not fix my problem unfortunately which was kinda expected but just wanted to cross this off the list of possible issues. When installed the fridge ran great just didn't fix my prior issues. If the product were the issue the fridge would not have operated like it did when I installed it. There are more things I can check just wanted to make sure this simple inexpensive part wouldn't fix it Time to call a real repair man now XD. Gave me full refund no issues. Defiantly recommend this seller and product.

  • Save money by purchasing this and installing yourself!

Cheap replacement and easy installation that will save you a lot of money compared to SEARS or your local refrigerator repair person. Go through simple diagnostic procedures that you can do on your own for your malfunctioning refrigerator through some internet research. When you've narrowed down the problem to a broken motherboard, make sure that the make and model of your refrigerator matches this replacement part. Installation was a breeze! I was quoted by SEARS $480 for parts and labor for this repair. Now, it just cost me $90, which was the price I paid for this motherboard through the seller. This came with installation instructions. It took me 15 minutes total to do the installation. Saved $400! Be a DIY person and save yourselves money!

  • Nice upgrade

My old control board was a cream colored printed circuit board that showed some obvious overheating around one of the transistors, so that might have explained the erratic behavior. The new one looks to be an upgrade - extra connectors and a very different arrangement of relays and other parts; but there was a connector (and only one that would fit) each of my cables and the holes were in the right spot so I tried it and it works fine. Just FYI, my refrigerator would work for 5 to 10 hours before going into a state where the compressor was running but the fans were not. That told me that all the basic mechanisms were working so it had to be the control board. I had previously found the main relay for the compressor had a broken solder joint on the PC board and I fixed that, but it only lasted 6 months before the transistor went. Hopefully this fix will keep the fridge running for a few years.

  • Fixed our GE refrigerator! Easy to Install and works great!

We own a GE side by side refrigerator, model #GSS25JETG. We were having several problems with it. The main problem was the defrost cycle did not work properly. The freezer would defrost, but the temperature was too high - not high enough to defrost the food, but enough to cause the ice in the icemaker tray to clump together. There was a heavy coat of frost on the items in the freezer from the condensation. The water and ice through the door did not work either. Since the control board controls the defrost cycle and timing, we decided to give this a try. The original board was white, and the new board was green. The connectors were slightly different (a few extra connectors), but I took a picture of the old board before installing, and this helped. I had to re-use the green grounding connector wire from the old board, but installation overall was pretty easy. Make sure you are careful handling the new board, and take precautions to avoid static electricity discharge. We also replaced the defrost heater, which was showing burn marks in the glass heating element. The fridge now works perfectly. The ice no longer clumps, the temperatures in both freezer and refrigerator are perfect, and the water and ice through the door work fine as well. This saved us big $$$ vs buying a new unit. I hope this helps anyone having the same problem with their refrigerators. This model of GE refrigerator is known for control boards going bad. We are very happy with this item - it worked!

  • Solved my Problem

It appeared that I had a bad evaporator fan, and I replaced it, unfortunately the same problem persisted . The real problem was the control board. After some research on new part numbers, I ordered this one. It arrived quickly and at a very good price. It was easy to install and has worked perfectly.
