Excellent Lock!!!!
This bike lock is very strong, locks at both ends so anyone who attempts to cut the lock will have to spend the time cutting both sides. It's a great size, I am able to pick the rear wheel and frame together with a fixed post. The lock it's self is very smooth and easy to lock and unlock. Yes it's big and heavy but this gives me added confidence in the lock itself and is worth carrying to secure my bycicle. At 16mm in thickness with toughened steel, bolt cutters and such will not get through this lock, an electric saw is the only way to cut it. I am very happy with this u lock and will be purchasing an addition cable to secure my quick release seat. It's not impossible to cut this lock but for sure my bike will be the more difficult to bike to take which is a deterrent in itself.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Security and price over everything else
Feels very solid and it's unbeatable for the price in that respect. Also the extra keys are very handy but that's where the good points end. It's weighs A TON. So much that the included mount is broken after a week or 2 of normal use. Parts of the plastic moulding are starting to come apart. Heavy-duty lock.
Heavy duty lock with great value. A bit on the heavy side, but that's a compromise I'm wiling to make in favour of security. The plastic frame support, on the other hand, does not inspire confidence, I only use it for short commutes, the majority of the time I transport the lock in my backpack. 10/10 would recommend.

Solid lock
This has the thickest steel shackle that I have found on a D-Lock. As it is over 16mm it is larger than the jaws of standard bolt croppers. As it locks both sides of the shackle anybody attacking with an angle grinder would have to do both sides which would take time and make a lot of noise. It has a bit of weight to it so if you are using it on a pushbike you'd probably want to carry it or put it over the handle bars, I'm not sure the bracket supplied would handle alot of shaking. I think this is great to put off opportunistic theft, and probably a good deterrent for planned theft.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Very strong but heavy
I’ve been using one of these locks for over a year now. They are very sturdy but quite heavy. It is not well sealed and if it is constantly exposed to rain the lock becomes difficult to operate unless it is regularly oiled. Due to the weight of the lock the bike frame mounting bracket can come loose so regularly check the tightness of the screws. Best lock I've bought ever
Moved in to a flat done a bit of research on locks for my two motorcycles watched a few utube videos and these where the best value for money .bought two onguard 8001 ,excellent quality ,let's hope I dont lose the keys these would be a proper dog to get through. Excellent quality for the price
Sturdy enough to make people think twice about stealing your bike. Pretty heavy but not overly so. The bracket is excellent, offering freedom of mounting the lock pretty much wherever on the bike. Easy quick release on the mount. The U could be just slightly wider to accommodate locking both rear wheel and the frame from the side as well. It just does not reach both if you go from the side, you need to slip it around them from the front of the saddle tube or from between the spokes of the rear wheel, facing forward. Amazing lock for the price, probably the best on the market
Fantastic U-lock. I have three of these and they haven't failed me. The 14mm shackle on the Pitbull is strong enough to withstand any bolt croppers, but the 16.8mm shackle on the Brute will put off all but the most brazen of thieves. The lock itself is hard to pick and the 4 bolts help secure it from prying attacks. It did once refuse to open after being outside for 2 years, but a spray of WD-40 or ACF-50 sorted it out. Keep it from rusting. The mount is okay quality, albeit plastic it feels strong. It would have been nice to have adaptors to fit different bike frame shapes. It locks to the mount pretty securely and it hasn't fallen off or come loose.There's also a 12 month theft guarantee with these locks at magnum dot uk dot com The Brute 16.8mm STD weighed in at 1650g. The long shackle version is 1800g. Pitbull slightly lighter at 1420 for the standard (note the Brute STD is shorter than Pitbull with only 200mm clearance)
